Electrical Engineering is a branch of science that deals mainly with the study and manufacture of electronic circuits, equipment, and systems that use electricity, electronic circuits, and electromagnetism, which are present in our daily life. Every electrical engineer is a skilled and licensed professional who has many years of training and experience in their field. This engineer has to have an outstanding educational background in electrical engineering and also must be a certified engineer or a member of the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) in the country where he/she is practicing. There are two categories of electrical engineers available: licensed and non-licensed electricians. Licensed electrical engineers are those that are licensed by the government of their country and they have been granted a license to practice. Non-licensed electrical engineers are the ones that have not been licensed by the government but have joined the NEMA, which is the national organization that oversees the certification of electrical engineers.

In order to become a licensed electrical power system engineer, you need to pass a written exam that requires knowledge in electrical engineering and computer networking. You also need to have at least four years of bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related technical discipline and must be registered as a member of a professional organization of your state.
